| I've been thinking about updating this when I get a chance. |

I finally bought Ender's Game at the behest of one of my co-workers who considered me a geek infidel for not having read it. I'm almost done with it. I also just read Dune, which I purchased along with Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy a few weeks ago when I first tried (unsuccessfully) to find Ender's Game at a used book store. Anyway, they're good books, but I don't feel like writing book reviews right now, just know that they're worth reading.
I was also inspired by some themes from games (Wolfenstein and one other) at work to pick up a book on Stalin and Hitler, since I don't really know that much about either. And, while I was filling my shopping basket, I also picked up God is not Great by Christopher Hitchens, in order to meet my blasphemy quota. Oddly enough I was almost struck by lightning a little over a week ago (for real). I'm still an atheist though.
I've finally had a chance to do some programming at home, so I've made some progress on my physics-based game. I don't know how playable the game will be without true stereoscopic 3D, or how much fun the concept is to begin with, but it's simple enough that I can use it as a testing ground for the basic engine. The premise is like asteroids... but gravity is cranked up unrealistically and you jump from asteroid to asteroid and set explosives on them. Eh, I can see a lot of problems with it, and a lot of opportunities for motion sickness as I get it to a playable state, but it's just an experiment.
I've been playing a good amount of volleyball lately, but I've slacked on my workout routine a little over the last month. I got back into it hardcore last week though. I have a 2's tournament coming up in two weeks that I will need to be in better condition for. |
